What was it that first got you excited about your chosen study area and future career path?
I love working with children and it was always my goal to become a primary school teacher. This course was right for me in every way.

Can you remember how you felt in the first week of your course?
I was a little nervous but mostly excited, I was very eager to start. It was very exciting to enrol and receive all my books to begin study.

Staying motivated can be a challenge for a lot of new students, what challenges have you faced and how have you overcome them?
I didn’t face many challenges, I think this is because I found the work very interesting and engaging. Also my teacher made sure all our work and study targets were easy to understand.

What practical training experiences have you had as a part of your course?
I had the opportunity to work at St Joseph’s Kindergarten in Korumburra for two days each week throughout my course. I can honestly say it was the most valuable learning tool and experience through the year.

Where to from here?
After my TAFE course I successfully enrolled at University. I am currently studying the Bachelor of Primary Education at Monash University, it is something that I really love and GippsTAFE has set me up for it.

What would you say to someone who is thinking about studying at GippsTAFE?
I’d say it’s the best choice you can make. You get hands on experience and skills that you can take and apply to any further education.
