This course is an entry level course into the Hairdressing Industry. Students will gain the required skills and knowledge to be able to work in hairdressing salons as a salon assistant providing basic hair styling and customer service to clients.
The combined skills and knowledge does not provide an outcome as a Qualified hairdresser, this qualification is intended to prepare individuals for further training in certificate III in Hairdressing.
- Bairnsdale Campus (Day Class): Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday - 9.00am - 4.00pm
- Leongatha Campus (Day Class): Monday and Tuesdays - 9.00am - 4.00pm
- Traralgon Campus (Day Class): Monday and Tuesdays - 9.00am - 4.00pm
- Traralgon Campus (Night Class): Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights - 5.00pm - 9.00pm
Qualifications and RecognitionUpon successful completion of this course students will be eligible to receive the Certificate II in Salon Assistant.
Possible employment outcomes may include working as a Salon Assistant and providing the following services:
Assisting Senior hairdressers with apply hair colour product, performing basic blow waves, shampooing clients, setting up work spaces, carrying out reception duties and scheduling clients, communicating and interacting with staff and clients to ensure a positive and safe salon environment.
Opportunities for Further Study
Federation Training offers higher level qualifications from the SHB Training Package including Certificate III’s in both Hair and Beauty streams.
- Candidates must be a minimum of 15 years of age.
- Year 10 pass is preferred.
- All applicants will be required to attend an interview process.
- Mature age applicants are welcome
